授業概要 This course is designed to prepare first-year students for the various English-medium classes that they will take in subsequent academic years, by building the academic andEnglish language skills that will be required in such courses. This class will bridge the gap between students’ currentEnglish skills and the higher-level skills required to take courses in English. Second, students will learn about topics concerning language and communication as an essential step in progressing to advanced courses.
授業の到達目標 Students will be familiarized with basic information and knowledge relevant to language and communication.

Relevant skills taught in class will include:

(1) Predicting content
(2) Understanding the main idea of the text
(3) Understanding logical sequencing
(4) Understanding specific information

事前・事後学習の内容 Students will have weekly assignments designed to facilitate their academic listening and readings skills. Weekly homework will focus on both listening and reading skills, with reports and presentations based on text topics.
