授業概要

【CJSP/TAISI Course】

The collaboration between the field of international development and the private sector has been promoted by the introduction of many international initiatives—for instance, the Millennium Development Goals and the Sustainable Development Goals—and has contributed to the socio-economic development of less developed countries. These circumstances have led to the creation of many innovative business models, which offer goods, services and income opportunities and involve diverse stakeholders. Through analysis of various cases primarily from less developed countries, this course introduces the formation and development of social business models. This course also provides students with opportunities to enhance their understanding of social issues and challenges confronted within diverse applied contexts.

授業の到達目標 Through this course, the students will be able to:
- enhance their knowledge about social, economic, and cultural issues that motivate stakeholders to collaboratively create social businesses;
- understand practical dilemmas and challenges in the process of creating and implementing business activities in diverse applied contexts;
- develop the ability to analyse the strengths and weaknesses of business approaches as a tool for socio-economic development; and
- develop writing and communication skills to explain analytical findings through discussions, essays, and presentation.
事前・事後学習の内容 It is essential that students do the required preparatory reading for in-class discussions. Students are expected to carefully read and study the materials at home. It is strongly recommended that students take notes when they read them. Note-taking is not simply a means to record information, but it is also an important part of your learning. It is also useful for students to pay attention to media presentations of social problems and topics related to social businesses.
