副題 Systemic Functional Grammar of English
授業概要 In CBI/CLIL, content is a vehicle for language learning, but it is always challenging for teachers to systematically deal with grammar in the content-based classroom, which helps them understand and express ideas covered in the text (spoken or written). The traditional view of grammar does not serve well for this purpose, where language use is prioritized over language usage. Some CBI/CLIL experts argue that a functional approach to grammar, that is, Halliday's Functional Grammar, provides pedagogical implications for the development of curriculum and materials and the classroom instruction. This course introduces the analysis and description of English, based on Functional Grammar to understand how spoken or written texts are organized. With this in mind, we will adopt, adapt, create, ,and evaluate spoken and written texts used in the CBI/CLIL classroom.
授業の到達目標 1) To understand the principles of systemic functional linguistics for the analysis and description of English;
2) To learn the analytic techniques Hallidayan grammar for the application to communicative language teaching;
3) To develop and critique language materials for CBI/CLIL lessons within the framework of functional grammar;
4) To do research on a topic of your choice, based on systemic functional linguistics.
